Welcome to the most charming literature festival i Norway. Every year in November in Os, Hordaland.
"I am the king of this wonderful, hidden world, if only for a day. King for a day!"
These words were written by O.W. Fasting in one of the first travel descriptions from Os, in 1905. He was sitting at Solstrand looking across Bjørnefjorden towards the glacier Folgefonna. Also today many tourists are fascinated by the beautiful nature here, but you will not call Os a hidden place any longer. In addition to the splendid nature, which Fasting and others have described, Os can offer both cultural experiences and services required by tourists and natives.
As a tourist at Os you can experience the fjord, the river and the mountains, and most of all the incredibly beautiful landscape along the sea where the fjord and the coast meet. You can stroll around Osøyro, the modern centre of the community, which gives the impression of being founded on the old seaside settlement. You can go shopping in a multitude of shops here, or you can go to the mall Amfisenteret at Flåten, a mile or two from Osøyro. Like Fasting you can be king for a day, or for several days if you wish!
